Here’s a little inspiration for your Thursday. Photographer Ken Heyman, colleague and friend of anthropologist Margaret Mead, shot the photos for a book entitled Family that he co-authored with Mead. Fifty years later, the photos are being admired once again after Heyman rediscovered them in a storage unit. This series of images is just gorgeous. Mothers laughing with their babies, comforting older children, kissing sweet mouths, bathing their darlings, and lots of combing and brushing hair. Basically, the little daily moments that make up a mother’s work. I suppose it’s a little silly of me, but it’s delightful to realize that motherhood has always been about these little moments, that things haven’t really changed so very much. Below are a few of my favorites, but the entire collection is lovely and not to be missed. Click on any of the photos to be taken to the gallery posted by The Huffington Post.
