I’ve recently discovered a lovely and powerful parenting tool that I wanted to share with my clients and friends: Peaceful Parenting Affirmations. Felice Austin, a Certified Hypnotherapist, has produced a wonderful set of affirmations called Peaceful Parenting Affirmations. Five tracks deliver about 45 minutes of affirmations perfect for any parent trying to access the calm within themselves and work with their children in a peaceful respectful manner. I love listening to my tracks while in deep relaxation on my bed, but I’ve also found it helpful to listen to them whenever I can–whether in the shower, or doing other work around the house. The more I listen to these powerful words, the more internalized they become and I find the phrases popping into my mind as I go throughout the day. Phrases like, “I am a peaceful and loving parent,” “I can choose to be the kind of parent I want to be,” “I parent with intention,” and “I lovingly release the past and turn my attention to this new day,” are grounding reminders of my goals as a parent. The affirmations discuss self-love, listening to your instincts, honoring your children, and treating yourself and your mistakes with grace. This set would be a great continuation of the daily affirmation practices many of my clients use as they prepare for childbirth with any method of hypnobirthing.
